Redescription of Procestus nabis Townes, 1970

Type: Female (Fig.14, Metate, 900 m. (at kilometer 85.5 southwest of Tuxtepec), Oaxaca, Mexico, Oct. 18, 1962, H. & M. Townes (Townes).

Fore wing length 9.6 mm.

Head. Malar space about 1.1 × as long as basal mandibular width; frons with a short median horn, strongly impressed around the horn and on each side raised into a rounded tubercle next to eye; occipital carina very high, reflexed (Fig. 15); temple and occiput weakly concave (Fig. 15).

Mesosoma. Epomia high, its dorsal end passing over top of pronotum in a continuous carina to epomia on opposite side; mesoscutum with punctures rather large, mostly adjacent; pronotum with epomia high, its dorsal end passing over top of pronotum in a continuous carina to epomia on opposite side; propodeum with a sharp and complete posterior transverse carina; fore tarsal claws pectinate only at base; fore wing with bulla in 2m-cu vein 0.25 as long as the rest of this vein; hind wing with nervellus (composite vein first abscissa of CU & cu-a) intercepted at upper 0.4 (Fig. 14).

Coloration (Figs 14, 15). Yellow. Ocellar area and tip of frontal horn black; antenna black, the scape and pedicel yellow below. Mesoscutum with three long black stripes and a transverse black mark in front of scutellum, this mark connected with the lateral black stripes and with a short median forward prolongation; postscutellum, apex of scutellum, and a band across middle of propodeum brown; upper side of hind coxa and basal

0.7 of hind first trochanter tinged with brown; apical 0.3 of hind tibia black; hind tarsus black; wings with a yellowish tinge, the pterostigma blackish and apical 0.15 of front wing infuscate. Tergites 1 and 2 with a broad postmedian brown band; tergites 2–5 with an indistinct median brownish stripe that does not reach apex; median basal part of tergites 6 and 7 and apex of tergite 8 brown.
