The species M. nigeli is reported to occur in the south of the Azores (Quéro et al. 2003), but outside EEZ (85 NM northeast of the Marsala Seamount); Paratype, ZMUC, No. P2340540, 32.9333ºW, 34.9666º N, 14 Jun. 1981.
