Type locality. Lindis Pass, Otago.

Lectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “1382.” [in Broun’s hand], “Otago“, “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ plagiatus ” [in Broun’s hand], “Lectotype ♂ \ Cyphon plagiatus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1982” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Paralectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “PARA- \ LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “1382” [in Nyholm’s hand], “Otago“[in Nyholm’s hand], “New Zealand. Remarks. Broun (1883) examined two specimens collected from Lindis Pass, Otago, which were received from Hutton. According to Nyholm (2000) this species belongs to an undescribed genus.
