Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ granualtus.” [in Broun’s hand], New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Mount \ Manaia.”, “558”.

Remarks. The only specimen was found by Broun near Whangarei Heads (Broun 1880).
