Hedysarum moniliferum Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 493; Mantissa Plantarum: 102. 1767.
"Habitat in India." RCN: 5496.
Lectotype (Thulin in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 472. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 310.19 (S) .
Current name: Alysicarpus monilifer (L.) DC. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).
Note: Ali (in Biologia (Lahore) 12: 34. 1966; in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 100: 345. 1977), Polhill (in Bosser & al., Fl. Mascareignes 80: 111. 1990), and Rechinger & Ali (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 157: 482. 1984) all indicated a specimen in Herb. Burman (G) as the lectotype, when in fact this was not studied by Linnaeus and only Burman’s illustration (t. 52, f. 3), cited by Linnaeus in the protologue, is eligible as such. The specimen at S (which also supports current usage) was preferred by Thulin as a more useful type than the illustration.
