Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin (1903) did not specify the number of specimens in his original description and they are all syntypes. The species was considered a subspecies of Rhysida nuda (Newport, 1845) by Attems (1930) until Koch (1985) suggested that many published records of R. nuda actually belong to R. immarginata (Porat, 1876) . Lewis (2001), based on specimens from Nigeria, finally listed the specimens as a subspecies of the latter and “a form widespread in West Africa”.

Collection remarks. The type locality refers to a former German settlement.

Current systematic position. Rhysida immarginata togoensis Kraepelin, 1903; transferred by Lewis (2001: 47).
