Old type catalogue. Not listed .

Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin (1903: 248) synonymized S. dalmatina var. africana Verhoeff and S. mediterrana var. africana Verhoeff with S. canidens but this was before this variety was published. Akkari et al. (2008: 80) reviewed S. canidens and its synonyms but the present taxon was not listed.

Collection remarks. The type locality is uncertain. That said, “ Djebel Gorseba bei Somja ” may refer to a place near the city of Tripoli, Libya. The specimens were collected by the Austrian zoologist Bruno Klaptocz (1882–1908) during his expedition to Tripoli and Barka 1906 .
