Taxonomic remarks. Kraepelin (1908) did not give the number of specimens in his original description but Weidner (1960: 71) listed “ 4 syntypes from York (nach handschriftlichem Katalog von Kraepelin, nach Veröffentlichung Tamala [as listed in Kraepelin’s handwritten catalogue, after publication Tamala]), and 2 types from Denham”. The type locality is York and not Tamala, contra the original publication. Koch (1982) lists this taxon as a colour morph of S. laeta .
Additional material. There are additional syntypes at the ZMB (catalog no. 4653-55) .
Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by Wilhelm Michaelsen during his expedition to Western Australia 1905.
Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Scolopendra laeta (Haase, 1887) according to Koch (1982: 127).
