Type locality and specimens. Fundort [locality]: Valparaiso (Gärten [gardens] und Viña del mar., Dr. Michaelsen coll.) .

Dimensions. Länge [length] 45 mm. ♂ mit 63–67, ♀ mit 73 Beinpaaren [leg pairs].

Type material. Syntypes 3 (ZMH-A0000559, ZMH-A0006384). CHILE: Valparaiso [ca. 33°03’S, 71°37’W]; (ZMH-A0000562), Valparaiso, Viña del mar [ca. 33°00’S, 71°31’W] .

Type status. Attems (1903b) did not give the number of specimens in his original description. Weidner (1960: 62) listed 3 syntypes and 3 microscope slides at the ZMH (note on file card: “1 Präp., 1 Syntypus B, Chile, Valparaíso Attems det.; Crabill rev. 1961; 2 Präp., (Typen?) Chile, Coqurimbo, 2.6.1906, R. Paessler.”). All specimens are syntypes.

Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by Wilhelm Michaelsen during his expedition to the southern tip of South America 1892–93.

Current systematic position. Plateurytion michaelseni (Attems, 1903); transferred to to this genus by Bonato et al. (2007: 6).
