Pseudonothrotes Mistshenko, 1951: Bey-Bienko & Mistshenko 1951: 289, 342; Karabağ 1958: 118; Weidner 1969: 157, 159; Demirsoy 1973: 406, 414, as syn of Paranothrotes; Demirsoy 1977: 57, 67, as syn of Paranothrotes . Paranothrotes Mistshenko, 1951: Demirsoy 1973: 406, 414; Demirsoy 1977: 57, 67.

Remarks. Mistshenko (1951: 518) in describing this monotypic genus distinguished it from Paranothrotes Mistshenko by the narrower vertex between eyes in male is less than the transversal diameter of eye, in female equal to it (in males equal to, or 1.25–1.5 times wider than the transversal diameter of eye, in females twice the diameter in Paranothrotes). Demirsoy (1973: 414; 1977: 67) synonymized it with Paranothrotes, without the specimen examination (Demirsoy 1977: 72). Here Pseudonothrotes is confirmed as a distinct genus by the narrower vertex, and but also the unique male phallic complex. This highlights the importance of the male phallus at generic level. It is not possible to distinguish it from Paranothrotes by the external characters except the narrow vertex, which may be assumed a species character, but the male phallus and epiphallus easily distinguish it from not only Paranothrotes but also all genera of Nocarodeini (Figs. 62, a, b, c, d).
