Type locality. Iran: [Khuzestan], Kouh Cherri. Holotype: female (MNCN).
Material examined. IRAN: Persia, Kouh cherri, 1♀ (Holotype), 2♀ [topotypes] (leg. M. Escalera) (MNCN) ; Persia, [Ilam], Farahan, 1931, 4♀ (leg. Predtetshensky) (ZIN) ; Persia, Kaemenogra, Haut Karoum [ High Karun, Khuzestan Prov., above Karun River, Zagros Mts.], 5.1899, 3♀; Khouh cherri, 1♀ (leg. Escalera) (det. Bolívar as Nocarodes bicarinatus Bol., typo) (MNCN) .
Distribution. W. Iran: Khuzestan, Ilam provinces (Fig. 842).
Remarks. I. Bolívar (1912: 29) described one female which is the only type of this species. Therefore the other females labelled as syntypes in the MNCN are only topotypes. It may possible to distinguish the holotype by the measurements given in the original description.
Because it is necessary to see the male to determine the species group of this species, I have included it in this species group by the external characters of the female.
Some populations of a species may have body color (yellowish-cream) hind legs (inner surfaces of hind femur and tibia) despite it has colorful (red, blue etc.) hind legs in typical forms. The last 4 females in the material examined section have body color hind legs (see also Glyphotmethis escherich elatior), and consequently Bolívar identified one of them as “ Nocarodes bicarinatus Bol., typo” which was remained a manuscript name.
The record from W. Azerbaijan (Garai, 2010) possibly belongs to another species of Paranothrotes .
