Orchamus raulinii (Lucas, 1854)
(Figs. 310–311)
Material examined. GREECE: Kreta, Sitia, 2– 16.5.1942, 1♂ (Neotype?) (leg. Wettstein) ; West Kreta, Halbrinakrotiri, Kl. Ajo Trias, 28.2.1925, 1♀ (leg. A. Schulz) ; West Kreta, Halbrin-akrotiri, Kl. Ajo Trias, 28.2.1925, 1♂ (leg. A. Schulz) (det. as Orchamus brevicornis n.sp.); Ost-Kreta , 5.5.1942, 1♀ (leg. Zimmermann) (det. as Orchamus brevicornis n.sp.) (MfN); Hellas, Creta, 3♀ (leg. Paganetti) (NMW).
Remarks. This species is smaller than O. yersini . Inner surface of hind tibia bulish. One male and one female in the MfN were identified and labelled as Orchamus brevicornis n.sp., which is a manuscript name. Descamps & Donskoff (1965: 499) recorded one female from Syria. Later Descamps & Mounassif (1972: 252) corrected this record as O. yersini .
One female collected from “Kl. Ajo Trias” has also a neotype label, but neotype must be a single specimen. The male collected from Sitia is the neotype which is also in Harz (1975: 109) and Massa (2009: 93). Descamps & Mounassif (1972: 254) mentioned the neotype for the first time, after a communication with Harz, who (1975: 109) designated the neotype. He showed the locality and the sex of the neotype in the figure captions on pages 80, 88, 110 and 114 as the male from Sitia , Crete . But he reported the type locality as Candia (Harz 1975: 109). If it is a valid neotype designation the type locality of this species must be Sitia , Crete. But it seems that it is not a valid designation according to the ICZN (Article 75.3).
