Remarks. This genus has one species and two subspecies. The subspecies, Melanotmethis fuscipennis unicolor (Uvarov, 1933) is distinguished from the nominotypical subspecies by the unicolor red (or slightly violet) hind tibia along its length (basal and apical parts of hind tibia red or body color, median long part blue in M. fuscipennis fuscipennis).
