Material examined. LEBANON: Aley, 27.5.1945, 1♂ (Holotype of Prionosthenus lebanicus) (NHMUK) ; ISRAEL: Mt. Hermon, 1500 m, 15.6.1993, 2♂, 3♀ (leg. V. Chikatunov), 7.6.1993, 2♀ (leg. V. Chikatunov) (NMNHI) .

Remarks. Massa & Fontana (2004: 536) designated a neotype for P. syriacus (Brisout de Barneville) from Mount Hermon, but following the characters given by Massa & Fontana (2004) and Massa (2012) the above listed specimens from Mt. Hermon undoubtedly belong to this species. It seems that the distributions of both species overlap in Mt. Hermon.
