Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None.

Comments: This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. This species cannot be unequivocally attributed to any species in the Ajuda’s inventory (Ferreira 1794), the transference lists, or in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis. This species occurs in the Western Atlantic from Nicaragua to southern Brazil (Frable et al. 2013).
