Epinephelus marginatus (Lowe 1834)

Classification on the specimen: “P. Th. Perca glabra ”.
Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): “Badejo”/ None.
Comments: See comments on Epinephelus morio . This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. Epinephelus marginatus is found in the southwestern Atlantic from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) to Argentina (Figueiredo & Menezes 1980), in the eastern Atlantic from United Kingdom to Angola and Mediterranean Sea, and in the western Indian from South Africa to Madagascar (Heemstra & Anderson 2016). This species is considered a threatened species in Brazil (IUCN category “Vulnerable”; ICMBIO 2018).
