Seriola lalandi Valenciennes 1833
Extant specimens: ACL-HN-0051 (Fig. 27a), and ACL-HN-0050 (Fig. 27b).
Classification on the specimen: “P. Th. Scomber coeruleus ”
Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): “Olhete”/ None.
Comments: This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. The given name is not available and there is a description of Scomber coeruleus in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis, suggesting that Veloso intended to describe it. There are 66 herborized specimens of Scomber in the Ajuda’s inventory (Ferreira 1794), but no S. coeruleus are present in the transference lists to the Lisbon Academy of Sciences or the University of Coimbra. The Portuguese common name on the herbarium sheets is the same name included in the description of this species in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis manuscript. This common name is still used to refer to this species in Brazil. Antunes & Balbino (2003) identified the specimens as Pomatomus saltatrix (Linnaeus 1766) . Seriola lalandi has a circumglobal distribution, occurring in subtropical and temperate waters (Smith-Vaniz 2016).
