Distribution. PA: Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Europe to cent. & s. Russia & Caucasus. Egyptian localities. Coastal Strip: Alexandria, Burg, Mariout, Nuzha. Eastern Desert: Wadi Hoff. Lower Nile Valley: Abu Rawash, Faraskour, Kerdassa, Mazghouna.

Host plants. Dandelion [ Taraxacum officinale (L.) Weber ex F.H. Wigg.], field milk thistle ( Sonchus arvensis L.) and smooth hawksbeard Crepis capillaris (L.) Wallr.

Dates of collection. January to October.

Comment. Dr Valery Korneyev (personal communication) noted that the identification and status of this species requires more elucidation. He thinks that C. tesselata is a NOMEN DUBIUM and all the Egyptian records may belong to C. producta .
