Egyptian localities. Coastal Strip: Abu Qir, Muntazah, Nuzha, Ramleh. Lower Nile Valley and Delta: Cairo, Gharbyia, Giza, Kerdassa, Qubba. Sinai: Arish, St. Katherine, Wadi El-Lega. Plants from which flies were swept. Cabbage ( Brassica oleracea L.), eggplant ( Solanum melongena L.), fig ( Ficus carica L.), tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum L.) and watermelon ( Citrullus sp.). Biology. MacGowan & Freidberg (2008) reared L. smaragdi from decayed sorghum, rotten potato, figs, avocado, and watermelon.
