Genus Picacharops Gauld, 1984
Type species: Picacharops brevithorax Gauld, 1984 (by monotypy and original designation).
Diagnosis. Small species; body short and stout; clypeus weakly convex; mandible with a strong lamella and upper tooth as long as lower tooth or slightly longer; eye weakly indented opposite antennal socket; occipital carina reaching hypostomal carina at base of mandible; propodeum abruptly declivous; propodeal area superomedia confluent with area petiolaris, slightly concave; hind tarsal segments without row of ventral setae medially; fore wing with 1cu-a vein strongly oblique, making an angle of 55° with AA vein; areolet present, small rhombic shape, with a moderate stalk; hind wing with distal abscissa of CU vestigial, CU&cu-a not intercepted; first metasomal segment with glymma absent; metasoma rather short, tergite 3 with laterotergite separated by a crease; ovipositor very short and its sheath widened, straight, with a distinct dorsal subapical notch, not projecting beyond apex of metasoma (Fig. 1).
Remarks. Prior to this study, the genus Picacharops was only known from the Australasian realm. There are few reports since the original description of this genus (Gupta 1984; Yu & Horstmann 1997).
