Dryocoetes alni (Georg, 1856)

Distribution in Iran. West Azarbaijan (Samin et al. 2011).

General distribution. Europe, eastern and western Siberia, Turkey.

Biology. This species of bark beetle breeds primarily in species of Alnus (Betulaceae), but also in Corylus (Betulaceae) and Fagus (Fagaceae) (Balachowsky 1949; Stark 1952; Pfeffer 1995). The biology of the species is briefly described by Palm (1951) and Dodelin (2010).
