Pteleobius kraatzii (Eichhoff, 1864)

Distribution in Iran. West Azarbaijan (Samin et al. 2011).

General distribution. Europe, Canary Is., Algeria, Turkey.

Biology. This species breeds in Ulmus (Ulmaceae), rarely in Sorbus (Rosaceae), attacking both the trunk and smaller branches (Balachowsky 1949; Stark 1952; Pfeffer 1995). The gallery system is described by Balachowsky (1949) and Stark (1952). The species plays a minor role in the transmission of Dutch elm disease (Maksimovic 1979; Şengonca & Leisse 1984).
