Diagnosis. From the original description: “Pronotum sub-depressed, widest across basal third, not quite twice as broad as long; lateral tubercles broad, unarmed, imperceptibly merging with side margins anteriorly, strongly angularly rounded to the constricted base; disk without tubercles […] Elytra densely punctate but punctures largely concealed by vestiture, with several prominent costae and usually with a number of fine elevated points or fine tubercles […] Prosternal process one-fourth to one-third as broad as prosternal cavity; mesosternal process at least four-fifths as broad as mesocoxal cavity.” Number of species currently included: 23; in Central America: 1.
