Type species — Proxatrypanius rockefelleri Gilmour, 1959 (original designation).

Diagnosis. Antennae about twice body length in male; prothorax with obtuse tubercle slightly postmedian; elytra without centrobasal crest; metatarsomere I slightly longer than the following two together. Number of species currently included: 1 (Mexico and Central America).
