Type species — Hyperplatys maculata Haldeman, 1847 (subsequent designation, Thomson, 1864: 26).
Diagnosis. Prothorax wider than long; sides gradually widening from anterolateral angles to apex of lateral tubercles, which are acute and slightly directed backward; elytra without centrobasal crest; metafemora not surpassing elytral apex in male; femora clavate; metatarsomere I often longer than II and III together.
