Remarks. Richardson (1995: 199) ascribed Bulimus caripensis to Mousson, evidently an error for Martens, 1873. The latter author referred this name to Valenciennes, based on a label in the Paris museum with H. Cuming as source. He also referred to Jonas (1846: pl. 11 fig. 16). Tello (1975) has summarized previous records from literature in his catalogue; however, these listings must be treated with great caution as they have not been confirmed.
Although Abbott (1989) mentioned this species as distributed in Colombia, we have not recognized it among Colombian material.
