Canthidium (Canthidium) nanum Harold, 1867
Canthidium nanum Harold, 1867a: 51 [here transferred to the subgenus Canthidium]. Type locality: Colombia (“Columbien”). Type material: Location of syntypes unknown. Distribution: Colombia (?) [The Colombia type locality was mentioned by Harold (1867a, 1869a) and Gillet (1911), but, inexplicably, Martínez & Halffter (1986a) stated that C. nanum would be restricted to the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. Also mysterious is the fact that this species was not included in Blackwelder’s (1944) catalogue. Although this species was included without further comments by Vaz-de-Mello (2000) in his list of the Brazilian dung beetles, I decided to follow Harold’s (1867a) original description and cite with doubts the distribution of this species only for Colombia].
