Canthidium batesi Harold, 1867b: 74 [here transferred to the subgenus Neocanthidium]. Type locality: Brazil: Amazonas: Tefé (= Ega), and Pará: Tapajós River (“Gebiet des Amazonenstromes und des Tapajos, Ega und Pará (Bates!)”). Type material: Unknown number of syntypes (MNHN—ex Bates collection). Distribution: Brazil: Amazon forest (modified from Martínez & Halffter 1986a).
