Augochlora euryale (Schrottky, 1906)

Augochloropsis (Pseudaugochloropsis) euryale Schrottky, 1906: 314, holotype ♀ (whereabout unknown) from Paraguay, Itapúa, Encarnación .

Comments. Augochloropsis euryale was transferred to Oxystoglossa by Schrottky (1913), now a junior synonym of Augochlora s.str., and later Moure & Hurd (1987) transferred it to Oxystoglossella, an opinion followed by Moure (2007). However the type is probably lost and the identity of this species is uncertain considering only the original description. We did not find any clues about the identity of this species and its generic placement among augochlorines. Nevertheless, Schrottky (1913) placed species now allocated in several distinct halictine genera, as Augochloropsis, Caenohalictus and Paroxystoglossa, within his concept of Oxystoglossa . To minimize changes, we keep this species as unplaced within Augochlora s.l.
