Type locality: no details of the type locality. No known repository of material.

In Venezuela: at the following locality according to Bold (1964): ARAGUA and CARABOBO States—no location details, Lago de Valencia (GN 10º10’46” N, 67º43’52” W) .

Remarks: geographical distribution includes El Salvador (Martens & Behen 1994). Specimens were recovered from recent sediments (Bold 1964). This species is considered characteristic of brackish environments (Brand„o et al. 2022).
