Xenocypris prolongata — Triebel 1962: 51–54, table 3–6; Rudjakoviella prolongata — Broodbakker 1984b: 17; R. prolongata — Martens & Behen 1994: 46; R. prolongata — Karanovic 2012: 550, fig. 217.

Synonym: Xenocypris procera Triebel 1962 (nomen nudum); Malz 1973 (nomen nudum).

Type locality: WH 1936/24, stagnant puddle, south of Los Robles (= El Pilar), Margarita Island, NUEVA ESPARTA State, Venezuela (GN 10º59’40” N, 63º50’04” W). Holotype (♁)— RIS, Xe 4134.

In Venezuela: corresponds to the type locality. Other localities in Triebel (1962) and Broodbakker (1984b): NUEVA ESPARTA State —WH 1936/10, stagnant well, probably dry for a few months, Poza de la Laguna Dulce, Macanao Peninsula, Margarita Island (GN 11°00’00” N, 64°15’00” W); WH 1936/12, stagnant well, probably dry for short periods, Poza Baranca, Manglillo, Macanao Peninsula, Margarita Island (GN 10°57’41” N, 64°18’55” W). LOS TESTIGOS Archipelago—WH 1936/30 (emend., see remarks), pond, Poza del Morro de la Iguana, Iguana Island (GN 11°21’32” N, 63°08’03” W).

Remarks: Martens & Behen (1994) recorded the geographical distribution of this species from the West Indies and Venezuela, but of this monotypic species, known records come only from Venezuela (Karanovic 2012; Triebel 1962). In Malz (1973), the homonym genus Xenocypris Triebel 1962 is replaced by the new name Rudjakoviella Triebel in Malz 1973, to correct the type species Rudjakoviella prolongata (Triebel 1962) Triebel in Malz 1973. From the information in Hummelinck (1940), it is assumed that sample WH 1936/30 was collected on Iguana Island, Los Testigos Archipelago (Venezuela).
