Distribution. NE & S India (West Bengal and Tamil Nadu), Peninsular Malaysia, and N & SC Borneo.
Descriptive notes. Head—body c. 48-49 mm, tail 47-53 mm, ear 16 mm (one specimen), hindfoot 9-10 mm, forearm 37-41 mm; weight 6-7- 6-9 g. The Lenis Woolly Bat averages smaller than the Papillose Woolly Bat ( K. papillosa) and can only be reliably differentiated based on skull characteristics and genetic data. Dorsal pelage is brown to buffy brown; venteris paler. Ears are large and virtually naked, with convex anterior margins, rounded tips, and concavity just below tips on posterior borders; tragus is narrow and tall, with virtually straight anterior margin except for very slight convexity neartip, and has concave posterior margin with small hooked basal lobe. Membranesare light brown, with hairs scattered on posterior margin of uropatagium and no definite fringe; wings are attached at base of outertoes, and calcar is long. Skull has high braincase and domed forehead, with less robust rostrum than in the Papillose Woolly Bat. Compared with the Papillose Woolly Bat, dentition is less robust overall; upper premolars are narrower; and lower premolars are smaller, especially P,. Chromosomal complement has 2n = 38 and FN = 52 (Borneo) or FN = 54 (Peninttilg Malaysia).

Status and Conservation. Classified as Least Concern on The IUCN Red List. Full extent of the distribution of the Lenis Woolly Bat is uncertain, but it is no doubt wide but fragmentary. Additional studies are needed to clarify its taxonomy and conservation status.
