Leiodes Latreille, 1797: 22 (no species included). Type species: Sphaeridium ferrugineum Fabricius (subsequent monotypy by Latreille, 1802: 163). Note: Originally no spp. included.

Note 1: Misidentified as Anisotoma Fabricius [sic] in Schmidt, 1841: 143 (misidentification corrected by Reitter, 1884: 96; see discussion in Baranowski, 1993: 6).

= Liodes Erichson, 1845: 87 (unjustified emendation of Leiodes Latreille; used in misidentified sense of Schmidt, 1841 (= Anisotoma)). Note: First used in a correctly identified sense by Reitter, 1884: 96.
