Subgenus Adelops Tellkampf

Adelops Tellkampf, 1844: 318 (not Dejean [1833] (nomen nudum in Scarabaeoidea)) (as genus); Jeannel, 1933: 251 syn. and reduced to subgeneric status (not clearly stated as taxonomic change; and referring to all North American species of Ptomaphagus listed in Hatch, 1933). Type species: Adelops hirtus Tellkampf (monotypy).
