P. claudicans (Szymczakowski, 1980: 518)

(Adelopsis); Gnaspini & Peck, 1996: 434 comb., 2019: 52; Gnaspini, 1996: 538 (topotypes seen and illustrated [but not stated as such—as in Gnaspini & Peck, 2019]) [but see Notes 1 and 3]; Salgado, 2005d: 971 [but see Note 3], 2015b: 36 [but see Note 3].

Holotype male in MHNG.

Type locality: Nova Teutônia, 300 – 500 m, Santa Catarina State, Brazil.

Distribution: Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo States.

Note 1: Gnaspini (1996: 540) considered the record of P. simoni (Portevin) [1903] in Szymczakowski, 1963: 671 (Brazil: São Paulo) to be a misidentification of P. claudicans . However, Gnaspini & Peck (2019: 52) discuss that it may refer to a different (probably undescribed) species.

Note 2: The record in Salgado (1999: 45) (Brazil: Rio de Janeiro) is doubtful because it was based on a female (with no illustration).

Note 3: Salgado (2005d: 971, 2015b: 36) added several records from the type locality. However, the spermatheca illustrate in Salgado (2005) completely differs from that illustrated in Gnaspini (1996: Fig. 62), and probably one of them is a misidentification (Gnaspini & Peck, 2019: 53).
