Syntypes (2 specimens, sex not given, in Jeannel, 1936, who illustrated a “type male”) in MNHN [in Jeannel, 1936].

Type locality: Quillota, [Quillota Province], Chile.

Distribution: Argentina: Chubut ( irretusus), Neuquén (also irretusus), and Río Negro ( irretusus) Provinces; Chile: Aconcagua, Aisén, Arauco ( irretusus), Biobío, Cautín, Chiloé (also brevicollis, irretusus), Coihaique, Concepción (also irretusus), Elqui, Llanquihue, Magallanes, Maipo, Malleco, Ñuble, Osorno, Palena, Quillota, Santiago (also irretusus), Talca, Última Esperanza, Valdivia, and Valparaíso Provinces.

Note: The records in Szymczakowski, 1965: 246 (Argentina: Chubut and Río Negro Provinces) are a misidentification of N. barbarae Szymczakowski [1968] (Szymczakowski, 1968: 23) .

= N. brevicollis Jeannel, 1962: 522; Szymczakowski, 1965: 246 (as Hemadiopsis [sic] brevicollis) syn. (of N. irretusus), 1968: 22 syn. (of N. irretusus; types of both species seen); secondary synonymy by Salgado, 2002b: 509 (not stated as taxonomic change). Holotype male [a single specimen in original description, assumed as holotype] in MNNC. Type locality: Chepu, 42º03’ S, Isla de Chiloé, [Chiloé Province], Chile.

= N. irretusus Szymczakowski, 1962: 123, 1965: 246, 1968: 22, 1970: 330, 1976: 433; Salgado, 1992b: 176, 2002b: 509 syn. Holotype male in MGFT [now in NHMB]. Type locality: Contulmo, Arauco (as Concepción, in original description and Salgado, 1992b, 2002b) Province, Chile.
