Genus Neopelatops Jeannel
Neopelatops Jeannel, 1936: 12 . Type species: Neopelatops edwardsi Jeannel (monotypy).

Distribution: Southern Chile, southwestern Argentina; five undescribed species known from Australia (AFN, personal data).
Biology:Australian species are attracted to and feed on slime molds ( Myxomycetes) as larvae and adults (Newton, 1984); the Chilean species probably have similar habits, with one record on the slime mold Stemonitis sp., but most specimens have been collected in flight traps and on fungusy logs or in leaf litter.
