DISTRIBUTION: Extreme W Texas, SW and SC New Mexico (USA); N Chihuahua (Mexico).

SYNONYMS: brevirostris Hall.

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Williams and Baker (1974, Mammalian Species, 36) and Williams and Genoways (1978). Considered as a subspecies of bursarius by Hafner and Geluso (1983). For subspecies, see Hall (1981).
