Hypnoidus Dillwyn, 1829 .

The concept of this genus is well-defined (Stibick 1978), but additional collections are required to determine complete ranges of the six Montana species. Pitfall traps and riparian sampling appear to be the best methods to collect species in this genus. Hypnoidus abbreviatus (Say) specimens collected in Montana are the “minor form” discussed by Stibick (1978: p. 386) and one species, Hypnoidus bicolor (Eschscholtz), is very common in agricultural fields.
