Ophiacantha notata Koehler, 1906 a— $ St̂hr & Segonzac 2005: 386.
Type locality: Bay of Biscay (45°05’00”N, 7°00’26”W) .

Occurrence: only known from the Bay of Biscay (Koehler 1906a) and near Menez Gwen, in Azores (St̂hr & Segonzac 2005).
Depth: 850– 1,226 m (AZO: 850 m; Koehler 1906 a, St̂hr & Segonzac 2005) .
Remarks: until recently, Ophiacantha notata was known only from the type material collected by Travailleur and Talisman expeditions in the Bay of Biscay. St̂hr & Segonzac reported this rare species from the waters in the vicinity of Menez Gwen, in the southwest of the Azores (SEAHMA–1, DR01: 37°50’32”N, 31°31’16”W, 850 m).
