Phymaturus calcogaster Scolaro & Cei

Phymaturus calcogaster Scolaro & Cei 2003: 108 (type locality: Laguna de La Vaca [42°28’45’’S, 67°21’54’’W], 680 m, Telsen Department, Chubut Province, Argentina, see Scolaro et al. 2005); Scolaro et al. 2005: 30.

Observations: In its original description, Scolaro & Cei (2003) suggested that Phymaturus clacogaster should be placed within the clade flagellifer . However, in a recent reassessment supported on a larger sample, Scolaro & Ibargüengoytía (2007) claimed that this species exhibits the diagnostic morphological traits of the clade patagonicus, and that therefore should be placed in this lineage.
