Lectotype (Crespo & al. in Taxon 45: 118. 1996): [icon] "Rapunculus aquaticus foliis cichorii, flore albo, tubulo longissimo" in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 1: 158, t. 101, f. 2. 1707. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 3: 23, upper specimen (BM-SL) .

Current name: Hippobroma longiflora (L.) G. Don ( Campanulaceae).

Note: McVaugh (in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 67: 783. 1940) stated that the material in Herb. Sloane should be regarded as the type, but this was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name (though it is now its typotype).
