Leonurus sibiricus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 584. 1753.
"Habitat in Sibiria, China." RCN: 4266.
Lectotype (Kuprianova in Schischkin, Fl. U.R.S.S. 21: 157. 1954): [icon] " Ballote inodora, foliis Coronopi " in Amman, Stirp. Rar. Ruth.: 48, t. 8. 1739 (see p. 620).
Current name: Leonurus sibiricus L. ( Lamiaceae).
Note: Kuprianova (1954) typified the name in the sense of the Siberian taxon, taking up L. heterophyllus Sweet for the tropical weed to which the Linnaean name had often been applied. Krestovskaja (in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 24: 156. 1987; 25: 133. 1988) further clarified the problem, though the choice of 739.7 (LINN) as type, adopted there, is pre-dated by that of Kuprianova using an Amman illustration. Harley & Paton (in Kew Bull. 56: 243. 2001) have provided a recent summary.
