16. Gomidesia blanchetiana Berg (1857: 14) [Fig. 3D, E; Fig 5N]
Endemic to the northeast region of Brazil (Govaerts et al. 2010), specifically the States of Bahia (Sobral et al. 2010) and Sergipe (Mendes et al. 2010). New records of this species for State of Pernambuco and Alagoas are presented here.
Trees and shrubs 5–7 m tall. This species differs from Myrcia spectabilis by having reduced (8.5–11.5 cm long), sessile and sagittate leaves; it differs from other Myrcia species by having apiculate and imbricate calyx lobes, a pilose hypanthium and style base and subglobose fruits.
