20. Myrcia densa (DC.) Sobral (2006a: 136) [Fig. 3M–O; Fig 5R; Fig 6A]
Endemic to the Atlantic Forest from the northeast to southeast regions of Brazil in the States of Bahia and Minas Gerais (Govaerts et al. 2010, Sobral et al. 2010). New records of this species for State of Pernambuco and Sergipe are presented here.
Trees and shrubs 4–5 m tall. Morphologically similar to Myrcia bergiana but differs by having shorter leaves (3–4 cm long), rotund calyx lobes and a glabrous hypanthium; it differs from other Myrcia species by having ferruginous trichomes, a flat or raised midvein on the adaxial lamina surface and subglobose fruits.
