Distribution. A: Lebanon (Cate 2007), Syria (Platia & Gudenzi 2007).
Remarks. The female was described from Lebanon (Platia 2001), and the male from Syria (Platia & Gudenzi 2007). Fresh material is known from the ancient cedar forest of Bcharre. Larvae were found in red-rotten Cedar logs, together with larva of Lacon punctatus (Herbst, 1779) . Collecting and rearing Ampedus larvae resulted three more specimens with the following data: “ LEBANON, Northern gov., Ehden, Horsh Ehden Natural Reserve, reared from Pinus, 34°18’33”N, 35°59’14”E, 1525 m, 19.VI.-VII. 2016, leg. A. Kotán, P. Nemes & T. Németh” (1, HNHM); “ LEBANON, Northern gov., Tannourine env., 2 km N Harissa, Tannourine Cedars Nat. Reserve, reared from hollow Quercus, 34°12’34”N, 35°55’45”E, 1750 m, 1.V.-VII.2017, leg. A. Kotán, P. Nemes & T. Németh (No. 30) (2, HNHM). These specimens with shiny pronotum and yellow body vestiture (Fig. 56) probably represent an undescribed species, but without available type material of many other species in the region no conclusion is made here.
