Mimosa scandens Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 2: 1501. 1763, nom. illeg.
"Habitat in Indiis." RCN: 7665.
Lectotype (Panigrahi in Taxon 34: 714. 1985): [icon] "Faba marina" in Rumphius, Herb. Amboin. 5: 5, t. 4. 1747.
Current name: Entada phaseoloides (L.) Merr. ( Fabaceae: Mimosoideae).
Note: The Rumphius plate cited as a synonym of this name is also the lectotype of Lens phaseoloides L. (1754), and M. scandens is therefore illegitimate (Art. 52.2); see Smith (Fl. Vitiensis Nova 3: 59. 1985) and Panigrahi (in Taxon 34: 714. 1985) on this question.
