Lectotype (Wallace, Fl. Neotropica 66: 20. 1995): Herb. Burser III: 156 (UPS) .

Current name: Monotropa hypopitys L. ( Ericaceae).

Note: The epithet was originally spelled “hypopithys” but this has generally been treated as correctable to “hypopitys” .
