Mimosa pennata Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 522. 1753.

"Habitat in Zeylona." RCN: 7689.

Lectotype (Brenan & Exell in Bol. Soc. Brot., sér . 2, 31: 101. 1957; Nielsen in Leroy, Fl. Cambodge Laos Viêt-Nam 19: 66. 1981): Herb. Hermann 3: 7, No. 216 (BM-000594649) .

Current name: Acacia pennata (L.) Willd. ( Fabaceae: Mimosoideae).

Note: Brenan & Exell (in Bol. Soc. Brot., sér . 2, 31: 101. 1957) treated Hermann material from Ceylon (BM) as the type, but did not distinguish between the specimens in vol. 3: 7 and vol. 4: 37. However, as this material appears to be part of a single gathering, Brenan & Exell are accepted as having typified the name (Art. 9.15), with their original choice restricted to the material in vol. 3 by Nielsen in 1981. Ross (in Bothalia 13: 108, f. 17. 1980) reproduces the Burman plate cited by Linnaeus in the protologue.
