Lectotype (designated by Hellmayr 1932: 48): ZMB 8313 (Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 43 sub “ Hirundo ”), collected by Meyen in “ Februar ” [= 1–24 Feb 1831] at “ Santiago de Chile ” [= Santiago, Metropolitan Region, Chile; 33.45°S, 70.67°W].

Paralectotype (lost): ZMB 8312, collected by Friedrich Sellow (1789–1831) on an unknown date [= late1821– Nov 1822] at “ Montevideo ” [= Montevideo, Uruguay; 34.86°S, 56.17°W].
